The Birth Story - In Pictures

I'm going to try to not use a lot of words because there are a lot of pictures, but this shows C's birth story through our images taken by either RCW, my mom, our photographer, Jes Deis or me. As a warning, there is a picture that some may consider graphic of C actually being born on the OR table. Its picture 11, or about a quarter of the way down the images if you want to try to skip over it.

Tuesday, February 14, 2012: 6:00 am: Celebrating Valentine's Day with homemade cinnamon rolls, that didn't end up shaped like hearts, sorry babe!

Tuesday, February 14, 2012: 4:35 pm: The last family picture of just the 5 of us before we left for the hospital.

Tuesday, February 14, 2012: 7:45 pm: Our labor & delivery room, #12, at Norton Suburban Hospital. I was on my first dose of Cytotec, getting penicillin and getting ready to watch Glee!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: Starting our day - goal: Welcome Baby Surprise! (my mom snapped this while moving things out of our L&D room while I was being prepped and RCW was getting ready for the OR.)

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 8:45 am: Waiting for the epidural. Also, the very last belly shot!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: RCW snapped a picture of the OR.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: Doctors getting ready. RCW was stuck waiting outside the OR until I was prepped and ready.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 12:15 pm: RCW in his scrubs, waiting to meet Baby W.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 12:20 pm: RCW finally was able to be with me. I was crying as they were getting ready to start the c-section. I was worried about Baby W., anxious to meet him/her and scared about being cut open.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 12:26 pm: Ironically, as my mom was cleaning out of L&D room and snapping pictures, she took a picture of the clock. She didn't have a real reason why she did it, but she did. And she happened to snap it at exactly C's birth time, without knowing it!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 12:26 pm: Baby boy RCW, III being born!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: C getting checked out by the neonatologist and nurses. He was perfect and healthy!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: Getting weighed and clocking in at 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: The first time RCW got to hold his son.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: Me meeting our son for the first time!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 1:30 pm: In recovery and freezing so I was put into a heated blanket wrap.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: Baby C in his first diaper. Getting ready for skin to skin time with mommy.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 1:45 pm: Holding C for the first time! Pure heaven ♥

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 3:12 pm: While in recovery, my parents got to meet C for the first time, but weren't able to hold him yet. RCW didn't snap any pictures of them meeting C or of my travel through the hallways to our postpartum room, #313. The following pictures started once we were in our recovery room and were taken by our photographer, Jes Deis.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 3:20 pm: Putting his footprints on his birth certificate.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 3:21 pm: Putting his footprints on our canvas I had bought at Michael's just 24 hours before. RCW helped to hold the canvas.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 3:34 pm: Cleaning the ink off of his feet.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 3:37 pm: C's first bath!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 3:45 pm: C's footprints and his very first little blue hat. So sweet!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 3:54 pm: After C's bath, I got to hold him again. RCW brought him over for more skin to skin time to warm him up after his bath.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 4:50 pm: Once he was finally warmed back up from skin to skin and bundled up by the nurses, my parents were able to hold him for the first time.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 5:04 pm: Our first family of 3 pictures!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 5:05 pm: Group shot with Grandma and Grandpa B. After these pictures, Jes left.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 7:00 pm: By this point, my parents had left and it was just the three of us.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: Our postpartum room on the evening of C's birthday.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 9:30 pm: RCW's first diaper change, of many! He was awesome, since we had couplet care and C was in the room with us the majority of the time and I couldn't easily get out of bed, RCW changed a lot of diapers!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: RCW and C hanging out.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012: 10:45 pm: We ended C's first day with him sleeping soundly in our room.
