One More Video...Telling my Mom & Dad

As the title implies, I have one more video. This is the last one, for now. We're not just picture happy people, but also video happy.

After we found out that our beta level was rising and doubling and we had our first ultrasound scheduled for July 7, 2011, we had to make a decision. To tell my parents when they visited over July 4th or not? We had many conversations about the pros of telling them face to face versus waiting until the ultrasound to ensure we had a baby in my belly. It was the night before they were set to arrive that we decided we would tell them face to face.

Then we had to figure out HOW to tell them face to face. We thought about decorating their room with streamers and baby shower type goodies. We also thought about painting Grandma and Grandpa over their bed since their current guest room will turn into the nursery. However, since we were so late in making our decision, we went with an old standby. We used our furbabies.

I made shirts for all 3 - Dallas, Loucie & Sonny that each said Big Sister or Big Brother and had a picture of my home pregnancy test and alarm clock showing the date and time. The girls wore pink and Sonny donned a blue shirt. We knew we were all getting dressed up to go out Friday night - their first night here. We had tickets to a night race at Churchill Downs on Millionaire's Row. RCW told my parents to stand together and he'd get a picture of them dressed up. Once they were in place, I let the pups dressed in their special shirts out from the bedroom and here is where the video starts...

My mom figured it out immediately, my dad, not so much. He was all about taking his picture in his cowboy get up instead of figuring out what the dogs' shirts said. But that makes it even more hilarious!

VOTMC - February 2010

Hey loves, I wanted to be sure I participated in the VOTMC before February ended so I took some time to do it this afternoon. Ignore the sweats and glasses and greasy hair. I barely left the house today. Also, this is real. Take 1. No more than that because I didn't have time to redo, despite watching and wishing I had.

This month's prompt was "Show 3 things in your house that are *you*".

Head over and check out everyone else's vlogs and make your own! If you do, be sure to let me know so I can check it out. I hope you enjoy, so without further ado, here are the 3 or maybe 6 things in my house that are *Stephanie*.

Just want to restate, these aren't the things I'd save in a fire or die without, but these are things in our home that are truly just me. Not me and RCW. A couple other things are probably all the chick flicks like "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days", "Mamma Mia", "Bride Wars" and the entire series of "Friends" and "Sex and the City" on DVD. Also, things that are *me* are books like the Harry Potter and Twilight series and any book by Tori Spelling. Our furniture, decor, etc are pretty much a joint combination of what RCW and I both like and are drawn to. Again, if I wasn't married, my house would look like this...

So, go for it, make a vlog showing us what 3 things are *you* in your living space and link back to VOTMC.

Thanks for leaving me comments about the vlog - love it! And I have to admit when The Griffiths mentioned called a shopping cart a basket, I started cracking up at my desk like a crazy person, because, um, maybe I do call it a basket?! I may have been too influenced by watching other vlogs before recording my own. Oops!

So here are a few others floating around - hope you all don't mind me sharing them here!

I'm back and with a VLOG!

Hey guys, I decided to try clearing out my Reader tonight. I came across many of my friends posting a dialect vlog and I loved each and every one of them. Then I decided to do one myself. However, I was lazy. I didn't set up the tripod, so I stacked a ton of books on my coffee table to hold the DSLR, BECAUSE my craptastic laptop doesn't have a built in camera. My stack of books - Harry Potters, Twilights, 2 Bibles, our wedding album and books from my classes this semester. Oh yes. I also thought I should post this so you can understand why I'm not always looking at the camera, I don't have typical shifty eyes!
Without further ado, here's my vlog!

Dialect Vlog from Stephanie on Vimeo.

And if you want to follow along or post your own vlog, here are the rules...

Read these words:

Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught

And the questions to answer are:

  • What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
  • What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
  • What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
  • What do you call gym shoes?
  • What do you say to address a group of people?
  • What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped
  • body and extremely long legs?
  • What do you call your grandparents?
  • What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry
  • groceries at the supermarket?
  • What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
  • What is the thing you change the TV channel with?
Also, I feel as though after watching the vlog you all deserve a shot of Dallas. You'll probably notice her kicking me. She sleeps on her back - ALL THE TIME. This is how she was laying by me and in her quest to get comfortable I ended up being kicked a couple times!
I hope you all enjoyed the vlog! And please play along - its so fun to listen to others and to participate. And, if anyone calls a shopping cart something else, tell me what that other word is. I'm hoping I have a delay or snow day tomorrow, but the next time I have down time I'll do a full post on what happened on Friday - I promise!

Bleary Eyed & Greasy Hair

Its 3:38 am.

I'm not awake by choice like a few nights ago. Tonight my alarm went off at 3am, prodding me to get out of bed and come put an ice pack on my upper right thigh. In a few moments, I'll go wake RCW up and he'll shoot me up with my HCG trigger shot, Ovidrel.

We decided to video this shot because well its become a tradition of sorts. We've done every other shot, so why not this one? We had set up the camera and tripod before going to bed last night. Forgive the robe, oily face, greasy hair. Ignore my semi-perkiness. After all, I've been up for almost an hour icing my leg down. Poor RCW, stumbled out of bed and doesn't say a single word. I think if he could work on his bedside manner, or maybe not practice on a few hours of sleep, he'd be an excellent doctor.

You may be wondering WHY ON EARTH did we get up in the middle of the night for this shot? Well, it wasn't based on our doctor's orders. They actually told us to take the shot Tuesday night between 10pm and midnight. BUT after doing some research and knowing what we've done every other trigger, we felt like it was worth the extra effort to make sure our trigger was 36 hours before the IUI. IUI#4 will be Thursday at 3:45pm. 36 hours prior is Wednesday morning at 3:45am. So yea, we got up.

Our RE's office's policy on triggering is this: if you have a morning appointment, trigger between 6pm and 10pm; if you have an afternoon appointment, trigger between 10pm and midnight. This is at least for IUI, I can't speak to what protocol is for IVF. I suppose they know that ovulation can occur anywhere from 12 - 48 hours after triggering so it doesn't have to be a precise 36 hours and waking up in the middle of the night, but we chose to roll with it.

When do you ladies normally trigger?

Also, as I begin to mentally prepare for the 2W + 2 D wait, when do yall normally have a beta after an IUI? My RE always tells us he'll schedule a beta for 2 weeks and 2 days after the IUI if I haven't seen AF. It's a mind numbingly long wait!

I'm so dramatic!!

Ok friends, here is our very first vlog, which isn't really a true vlog. We set up our DSLR on a tripod and hit record while RCW gave me the shot. Forgive me, I look bad. Sitting on our sofa isn't the best position for my muffin top and I had a 10+ hour day at work so I'm looking rough. Although, if we get preggo and I share all those details, I guarantee you'll all see me looking worse in the future! And does anyone else enjoy RCW looking stalkerish as he enters the scene with his wave?! I cracked up when I watched it back for the first time. Enjoy!!

So, I must say, it REALLY WASN'T THAT BAD! I look like I'm pretending to be Scarlett O'Hara with my hand on my forehead. I was getting frustrated that RCW wasn't telling me what he was doing as he did it. I didn't even feel him stick me (yay ice!!) but I did feel him pushing the medicine in my leg, it stung ever so slightly. In my head the needle was like 5 inches long, in reality maybe an inch and a half which still seemed large until the deed was done. Dallas wanted to lick everything and be part of what was going on, Loucie could have cared less. Its about an hour later now and my leg is fine except for some slight stinging on the surface, but seriously nothing unbearable.

Here's my smiley face with a red spot, or is that a freckle, from the injection as his nose.

Hope yall enjoyed this! I had fun making it, perhaps more vlogs will be in my future!

PS: I didn't get any thing from Freedom Pharmacy, despite the end sounding like an endorsement! My RE gave me their contact info as they help infertiles like us have access to much more affordable fertility meds.
