First Trip to the Zoo

If you knew me B.C. (before C) you may have followed my very first blog, I Do at the Zoo.  If you found me through the infertility and baby blog trenches, you may not realize RCW and I have a thing for zoos.  We've been to entirely too many to count, even attemping to visit zoos while on our honeymoon in Europe!  One of our very first dates was to the National Zoo in D.C., and it just became our thing.  Which translated into getting married at The Louisville Zoo.  I have been so excited to take C to the Louisville Zoo for his first experience!  We decided to make it a family affair and waited until my parents came to visit in early July.

This summer the Louisville Zoo has a dinosaur exhibit, first I love me some dinos and am hoping my boy will too when he gets older.  I've already pinned way too many things for his way in the future dino themed birthday party!

With Grandma and Grandpa B and the dino.
And so since I'm being so honest, my favorite animals are elephants and penguins.  Sadly, the penguin environment is being remolded, but the elephants were out!  We took a family picture with a baby elephant statue that hangs out by their exhibit.

In addition to getting married at the zoo, RCW and I bought a brick with our name and wedding date on it.  Of course we had to do some photo ops with it!

July 8, 2012
And almost 3 years earlier on our wedding day!

After all the zoo fun and checking out the animals, we had one more stop to make.  The carousel!  Carter took his first ride and yet again it resembled our wedding day!

We had so much fun showing Carter the zoo, especially since it holds so many memories for RCW and I. Luckily, we're members and can't wait to go back, when perhaps it isn't 100+ degrees!

Do you have a tissue??

I'm working late tonight as its Reunion Weekend at my campus so RCW is picking up C from school.  I texted him this afternoon to ask if he had the babe yet and he told me he was on the way.

A few minutes later I got a text from him saying, 'Do you have a tissue??'

I freaked out - why?  Was something wrong?  Had C hurt himself?  Had someone died? Was the rash on C's face out of control?  WHY did I need a tissue?!

I texted back saying, 'Why? What's wrong?'

He responded with this picture saying, 'Cause I have a little booger!!'

Thanks for freakout session, hubs!

Hope everyone has a great weekend :)

I won!

I won the pool battle!

And I think RCW is actually happy with the final product. We went to Target on Saturday morning, got our $99 12x30 Intex Metal Frame pool. We came home, RCW finished working on the gates on our new fence and then he began to set up the pool. It was super easy and he did it basically by himself. A note - our yard is horrid. It slants and is completely uneven. RCW took me out with a level and a 2x4 to prove to me we couldn't put a pool on the ground. Luckily, he measured our gazebo and it was the perfect fit and flat! Our pool has the perfect home.

We started filling it up with 2 hoses around 4:30pm and it took a good 4 hours. RCW is not looking forward to our water bill - he claims my $99 pool will end up costing $800. We shall see.

Sunday we got in. It was the first day in Louisville in over 3 weeks that it wasn't over 90 degrees. But I had to be in the pool! I stayed in for 4 hours. I floated in my chair, reading my book and got out with a raccoon face. Oops - the clouds did not hide the UVA rays.

It is fabulous. I don't care that it may make us a bit white-trashy redneck. Its the best thing ever and honestly after having it I don't see how I will ever been able to live in another home that doesn't have some type of pool - in-ground, above ground, easy set - whatever so long as there is some form of water in my backyard that I can float around in!

(Almost) Wordless Weekend

Our weekend was jam packed full of fun! Here are a few pictures to elaborate our awesome Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy!

Saturday started with the University of Louisville v Memphis game. We won. 56-o. Yes. It was insane and the most touchdowns I think I've ever seen UofL score.
Our tickets are in the new section of Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium, higher than nosebleed seats, but really not that bad, especially for $20 a ticket.
Saturday night, RCW went with our good friends D & B to Baxter Avenue Morgue. I don't do haunted houses, something about the fact that they can touch you, but you can't touch them just bothers me along with the scary issues! But RCW had a blast! Here he is with D and 2 characters.
RCW said they had little kids dressed up and performing Thriller outside. He said it was awesome!
Here is one shot he took inside the morgue. Apparently there was a hospital scene, disturbing!
Sunday we got up and went with my cousin S and her husband L, who just moved to Louisville back in August to Huber's to pick pumpkins! Here I am with my little pumpkin.
Here's RCW carrying our two bigger pumpkins.
And here's the 4 of us in the pumpkin patch.
Overall, we had a great weekend! It was busy hopping from one thing to the next, but so much fun! Good friends, good food, good times. Hope you all had a fabulous weekend too!

No Shoes, No Shirts, No Problems....Day 1

The Outer Banks is bliss. Hanging out with our family is heavenly. Waking up to the sounds of surf and our nephew laughing is awesome. I already know I don't want to go back to work in a week! We have family pictures tomorrow so beach time was limited to avoid burning for moi. I also got a killer headache this afternoon and took a 3 hour nap. However, the fact that I could take a nap was fabulous and I could definitely get use to it!

Here are a few pictures of our day. Family shot on the beach. It was the girls first time seeing the ocean and feeling sand between their toes.
Auntie and Cole playing in the pool.
Dallas LOVES the decks overlooking the world!
Happy Labor Day weekend to all my loves!!

Beach Bound

We made it safely to RIC, VA yesterday and had a great time cleaning out some of my personal belongings from years ago...

Unlike KJPugs I didn't find journals/diaries from my youth. Honestly, I don't think I ever really kept a real diary, but I did find my 7th grade and 8th grade English journals in which I was given topics and wrote page after page on "The Man I Marry" and "When I'm A Parent...". There are also some very telling pieces that show I'm still the same emotional girl I was in middle school! I found boxes and boxes of Beanie Babies - yes, for real. My videos from cheerleading competitions and my trophies. Pictures and pictures and more pictures. I didn't take pictures for today's post, but once I'm back from vacation, I'll share to give you all a bit more insight into moi!

Today we're heading to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina to stay in The Great Escape for a week with my mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law, nephew and 3 dogs. Here's the house, it looks heavenly...
We're super close to the beach in our 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house.
I'm super excited about this pool...
RCW and my brother are super excited about this pool...
A week in bliss. It's been 5+ plus years since we've been to the Outer Banks, OBX. We're so excited for a week away from work and stress to spend with our family!

Posting may be light this week, but I'll keep you all posted on anything major! Hope you each have a happy and safe long holiday weekend!

Achin' Ovaries

If you're following me on Twitter you saw this already but I had a meeting at our campus preschool this morning. I was early and my meeting co-participants were running late so I got to hang out in the lobby for a good 15 minutes. Not to mention, the duration of the 2 hour meeting was spent watching adorableness walk by constantly!

As I stood in the lobby waiting, a class room of 10 1-2 years olds walked out and were loaded into 2 Bye Bye Buggies. This is what stared at me...

Not actual picture from Preschool - one found here online
O.M.G.

Seriously?!

It doesn't get any cuter. These kiddos were smiling and waving at me and my heart was melting and my ovaries were aching. I want one. I want more than one, but I'd settle for just one. One of my very own to wave and smile and kiss and stroll around in a 1 seater or perhaps 2 seater, but nothing as advanced as the Bye Bye Buggy, unless of course God and medicine bless us with multiples, then we may have to invest! Seeing those babes was the highlight of my workday.

***TMI ALERT and TTC UPDATE***

Its Day 9 and still nada. RCW is back in town and its the weekend so I haven't been quite as emotional. I feel its a bit like the quiet before the storm when Wednesday (day 14) arrives and AF still hasn't shown. All those symptoms are still lingering so maybe, just maybe she'll make a dramatic appearance. Fingers crossed. Thanks for all the comments, love, prayers and good vibes. I'd be lost without my little community of lovelies helping me get through each day! Hope you each have a fabulous weekend!

Am I Too Sensitive?

RCW and I are big fans of Last Comic Standing. We've been watching it the past few seasons and while I'm not in love with Craig Robinson as host, the three judges or the format this year, some of the comics are definitely hilarious. Our current fave is Myq Kaplan.

Over the weekend during our silliness and laziness we watched this week's Last Comic Standing on the DVR. We laughed, we listened and a few times we even guffawed.

When this comic came on, we did not. I kept watching for RCW's reaction and he didn't have one to this set. My reaction was furious. I was so put off by the set beginning around the 1:30 mark.

I get it. I get the point. I get the humor. And honestly, last year at this time I may have even laughed at this set. But now? Now its a different story. Now we're the ones he's poking fun at. We're the punchline.

It infuriates me that this comic, the judges and the audience are laughing and applauding about something that is so personal and effects so many. Maybe its the old standby that its ok for him joke on African Americans and the KKK because he's black and its not ok for him to joke on the IF community until he tells me he's been trying to get pregnant and can't, he's taken meds for months or years with no success, he would give anything for a baby of his own and wouldn't dream of aborting any that were created by God or fertility medicine...

Or am I just being too sensitive?

(Almost) Wordless Weekend

Saturday morning we decided to go off the diet for breakfast and indulge in cinnamon raisin french toast. YUM!
With tater tots, which is where my OCD and silliness kicked into high gear...
The chef, my darling hubby RCW. He's seriously an amazing cook and I'm lucky he doesn't mind sharing the duty with me, especially on weekend mornings.
We tried sharing with the girls, but their sniffing wasn't working with my picture taking. RCW tried to show them what to do. Again, we were in a silly kind of mood this weekend! I love Loucie looking on like, "Dad, WHAT are you doing?!"
Then Lou had to investigate where Daddy was sniffing as Dallas' butt got in the way.
Our weekend = a bit of cooking, writing my final summer term paper of the session (thank goodness), a lot of being silly together and helping move my cousin and her hubby into their new apartment - after 4 years of living 8 hours away from ALL family, we finally have some in the same town as us and we couldn't be happier about it!! Welcome to Louisville S & L!!!!

***TMI ALERT and TTC UPDATE***

- AF is still MIA. Monday will be Day 5 since I stopped taking Prometrium. When I've taken Provera in the past, AF has shown up around day 6-7. Fingers crossed. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anxious and eagerly anticipating her arrival THIS week.

- TMI - my nipples (is there a IF/baby code/abbreviation for that?) have been so soar and seem to constantly be hard despite the 100+ degree weather we've been experiencing. Its been a pain in the chest (literally) and RCW and I are hoping that along with my face breaking out super bad this weekend mean AF will be arriving. We at least know some type of hormones are currently having a rockin' party in my body.
